At Streetwise Kapap we teach a system that adopts techniques and principles from both Kapap and Krav Maga. The Kapap system originated long before Krav Maga existed but are very much the same wolf in different clothing.
Both systems are based around hand to hand combat and focus solely on self protection whether that be in the military arena or on the street. Krav Maga is a more technique focused system, where as Kapap is based around principles. We believe that both systems have their place in providing effective and efficient self protection training.
We strongly believe that everybody has the right to walk in peace. This is why we think it is vitally important that people, men women and children, learn some self protection in their life. The techniques we incorporate in our syllabus make use of natural reflex/flinch reactions and survival responses ingrained into us through evolution over millions of years. This allows you to learn the techniques very quickly and most importantly because they are natural reflexes the techniques will become second nature and will be there to save you when you need them.
We are proud to be an affliate of the Global Kapap Network (GKN). This enables us as a school to provide our students with the most up to date and relevant teachings of Kapap and Krav Maga.
Our syllabus is designed to encourage students to avoid confrontation. Although if this is not possible or unsafe we teach students techniques that will allow them to neutralise the threat as quickly as possible. The techniques present in the Streetwise Kapap syllabus are currently being taught to serving IDF (Israeli Defence Force) soldiers and are reviewed every year by currently serving IDF reserves Lt Col Chaim Peer in partnership with our affiliate the Global Kapap Network. This allows us to provide our students with certification that is recognised internationally aswell as at the Wingate Institute itself in Israel.
The techniques taught, teach students to attack the vulnerable parts of the body such as eyes, neck/throat, face, groin, ribs and knees. We carry out various training drills that teach controlled aggression, stress management and conflict management. The drills are carried out to simulate what it would be like, as close as possible, in a real life conflict situation Students are put under pressure and into a state of stress so that it can mimic a fight or flight response to which the students will be expected to carry out techniques and defend themselves to a certain level.
